Abolishing the Annual Performance Review
Cindy Springsteel, Vice President Global Business Partnering and Americas Employee Relations, Adobe Systems
In 2012, Adobe completely transformed its performance management approach, abolishing annual performance reviews and moving to a new model of ongoing feedback called “Check-in.” In the five years that have followed, the company has grown its employee base by more than 80% while also completely transforming its business model. The result has been a more engaged and agile workforce and thousands of hours in time savings. But a shift this dramatic also brings new challenges, including new rigor required for
people manager training, performance management and compensation decision.
In this session, you will:
• Hear about the factors behind Adobe’s decision to eliminate annual performance reviews and how it managed the rollout
• Gain the specific tools and techniques that Adobe developed to equip employees and managers
• Hear Adobe’s “lessons learned” in making the shift to Check-in
