Joel was born and raised in Missouri City, Texas where he was the oldest of three. He attended Elkins High School where he was involved in athletics all year-round. Following graduation, he followed his passion to fight for his Country and joined the United States Marine Corps. During his time in the Marines, Joel was hand-picked to guard classified information and American lives at embassies around the world. During his tour overseas, he was hand selected to assist The US Secret Service and State Department agents with two separate Presidential and Secretary of State visits (Vienna 2007, Dar es Salaam 2008).
After spending five years in the Marines, Joel enrolled at the University of Houston where he received top sales honors at the Bauer College of Business. After breaking multiple sales records at UH, Joel accepted a role in outside sales with Schlumberger. Currently, Joel is an Account Manager at DXP Enterprises. Along with mentoring and giving back to current students at UH, he volunteers his time as a member of the Board of Directors for the American Petroleum Institute Houston Chapter as well as one of the Co-Founders of the American Petroleum Institute Young Professionals group.
