Leadership and Employee Engagement: Keys to Driving Performance In an Uncertain Business Environment
Sue Lam, HR Manager – Surveys and Assesments, Shell
In Shell, we know that employee engagement drives individual, organizational, and safety performance and the biggest driver of engagement is our leaders. While our internal data shows that these engagement trends are stable, it is less clear whether leaders who have high engagement scores constantly remain high or whether this changes over time. Accordingly, it is also uncertain whether leaders who have low engagement scores improve over time or consistently remain low. Given that there is a robust link between engagement and performance and we are operating in an increasingly challenging and ever-changing business environment, it is very important for Shell to understand whether leaders help their employees stay engaged or whether they need help in doing so.
In this session, you will learn:
• How leadership and engagement are linked to performance
• How Shell used analytics to help identify leaders who could benefit from support
• How we made the business case for the project
• The type of support Shell provided leaders
