Becoming an Effective HR Business Partner
(HRCI Criteria: 3, 6, 16)
More than 70% of HR departments have been reorganized to provide more direct contributions to the business. The 4P Model shows how HR has evolved from polite to police to partner to player; and businesses today are asking HR to be more of a partner and player than in the past. The Corporate Executive Board,
among others, has demonstrated the value of HR becoming more strategic; but to make this contribution and drive business results, new skills and capabilities are required.
This session presents a new Capability Framework designed specifically for HRBPs to be respected, credible and effective business leaders. This framework goes way beyond standard competency models as it focuses on the capabilities that business leaders want HR to fulfill. It also includes an external and market
focus that takes HRBPs out of their silos and into the business world.
After participating in this session, participants will be able to:
• Discuss the evolution of the business partner role.
• Identify the components of the HRBP Capability Framework
• Assess each factor on the HRBP Capability Framework.
• Identify three personal developmental goals for the next six months.
