Building a pipeline of leadership bench strength is not done overnight, and is not an easy task; however, when approached systematically and recognized as a process that requires effort and accountability, great things can happen. It’s not enough to promote great “doers” into leadership roles. It’s not responsible to expect a front-line leader to automatically promote as a matter of tenure progression. A solid pipeline is built intentionally, hand-in-hand with those aspiring to succeed in leadership, and honors objectivity & organizational context with readiness as its core focus. This session will cover major action-based phases in the succession and HiPo planning process including aspiration, readiness slating, inputs & development, and tracking progress.
Session Learning Objectives
- Address aspiration & performance/potential for leadership
- Differentiate talent to establish a readiness
- Incorporate quantitative and qualitative inputs to co-create development
- Track progress as a key success measure
