President, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center East, and UPMC McKeesport
Mark lead the effort to open a new $250 million LEED certified community hospital for University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, one of the nation’s largest integrated health systems with 21 hospitals and 60,000 employees. He was responsible for all management aspects of opening the new facility including design, workflow, human resources, medical staff development, community relations, and financial planning.
He maintains regional responsibility for two UPMC community hospitals and medical staff services under one administrative umbrella He collaborating with the UPMC Health Plan on ACO structures and leads other system initiatives including international services, ambulatory care, employee engagement, graduate medical education, and service line developments. He also serves as Co-Director of the UPMC administrative fellowship program. He previously served as VP of Operations, UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside, a 1,315 bed hospital that is the flagship of the UPMC system.
