Dr. Launette Woolforde has been a registered nurse for 23 years and has served in various roles in the clinical settingin medicine, surgery, and critical care; as well as in the academic setting as a professor at several schools of nursing. Currently, Dr Woolforde is Vice President for Nursing Education and Professional Development at Northwell Health (formerly North Shore-LIJ Health System) and Asst. Professor at the Hofstra-NorthwellSchool of Medicine. She works alongside system leaders to move the health network comprised of 60,000+ employees toward its goal of superior patient care, quality and safety. She oversees a broad scope of strategic efforts and education programming that impact the health networks 16,000+ nurses and countless other healthcare team members.
Dr. Woolforde earned a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Pace University, a Masters Degree in Adult Health Nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist from Hunter College-CUNY, a post master certificate in Nursing Education from the College of New Rochelle, a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Case Western Reserve University, and a Doctor of Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Dr. Woolforde co-led Northwell Health in its journey toward successful Center of Excellence designation from the National League for Nursing in 2012, one of only 3 healthcare organizations in the country to earn this inaugural distinction for healthcare organizations. Dr.Woolforde has earned numerous awards, holds several national certifications and has presented on nursing topics nationally and internationally. She has served nationally with nursing organizations including the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and the Association for Nursing Professional Development. She is a member of the Board at the National League for Nursing, and a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine.
