After having a “productive” meeting, does everyone leave fulfilled from sharing ideas or full of the same ideas given by the same people? Assimilation does not allow for cultural growth, as everyone follows the dominant culture to achieve corporate goals. Globalizing your company requires the identification of authentic cultural contributions and thinking “outside of the box.” Integration supports using different paths to reach the same goal. Different cultural perspectives can inform innovation that supports the company’s mission.
In this presentation, we will explore cultural identifiers of assimilation and why it is not healthy for companies who are wanting to be diverse. As a group, we will share experiences of assimilation and brainstorm hypothetical dialogue to promote integration.
