Cultures and the way employees experience it change when people and groups change their behaviors. People change their behaviors when their beliefs and mindsets are changed. This is a story of how that can happen, in which joe gerstandt candidly shares aspects of his own personal transformation from “anti” to “ally”. Today joe works with organizations of all shapes and sizes to develop a more inclusive organizational culture and deliver a more consistently inclusive employee experience, but there was a time when joe would have rolled his eyes at what he does for a living today. The experience of becoming aware of and addressing his own resistance, denial, prejudice and bigotry, still informs how he approaches this work today.
